Izzi Pics addresses this challenge by allowing users to compress images before they are stored. In many cases, compressed images are sufficient; the app can reduce images to a mere 100KB—a remarkable 96% reduction—while still ensuring usability. Users can adjust compression settings according to their needs, balancing file size and detail for their specific context.

When Image Quality is Critical
Conversely, there are instances when maximum image quality takes precedence over file size. While the iPhone camera captures excellent images, it typically converts them into JPG or HEIC formats, which employ lossy compression. Izzi Pics offers the option to take and store images in PNG format, known for its lossless compression. This means every pixel's information is preserved at the cost of a larger file size (approximately 20MB). However, the enhanced color depth of PNGs allows for excellent handling of high-resolution photos.
